"With 'Time After Time,' we wrote that very quickly. We were recording Cyndi's debut album. We had all the songs chosen, and quite simply the producer, Rick Chertoff, suggested to all of us that the album could use 'One more song.' We had 'Girls Just Want To Have Fun,' we had 'She Bop,' we had 'All Through The Night,' we had what would end up being really strong songs. - Rob Hyman (songwriter)
When we started writing the song, I needed a fake title as a placeholder for the time being. So I was looking in the TV Guide and saw a couple of movie titles. There was this movie starring Malcom McDowell and Mary Steenburgen called Time After Time and I said ''Ok, that sounds like a good fake title for right now; it'll change. When we started writing the song, no matter how I tried to remove the freakin' title, I couldn't take it out without the song falling apart.'' - Cyndi Lauper
It's been covered by dozens of artists. But the most honored I ever felt was when Miles Davis covered it. I never wanted him to meet me, because I thought if he didn't like me (like most of the oldtimers), he wouldn't play my song anymore. - Cyndi Lauper
