"That should be credited as a Lennon/Ono song because a lot of the lyric and the concept came from Yoko. But those day, I was a bit more selfish, a bit more macho, and I sort of omitted to mention her contribution. But it was right out of Grapefruit, her book." - John Lennon "He sincerely wished that there would be a time when all of us could feel happy without getting too obsessive about material goods." - Yoko Ono ''This song is virtually the Communist Manifesto. Even though I am not particularly a communist and I do not belong to any movement." - John Lennon

Perhaps the most relevant song ever written.

This is a Communist theology song, which states no Heaven or hell and therefore no God. Hypocritical of John to preach equal rights and possessions, when he was living in wealth and ignoring the poor and starving. Anti Christ.

Oh, poor Malcolm, 40 years after his death you are still angry because he was rich. Well, he had talent, now rethink why you are nobody. And you are kindly showing your ignorance with “anti-Christ”. Do you know the definition? No. Bigot.

You people are the reason this world thinks the way that it does. In the song it says Imagine that there is no heaven. Nowhere in the song does it state that there is not a heaven, hell, or God. You all need to learn English. (Exclude those who understand the real meaning of the lyrics). Here is the what the word Imagine means: 1. form a mental image or concept of.

I regard myself as a "cynic" however sometimes, just sometimes Mr Mawer. People can and do gather wealth without trying to. Here were a couple loving each other writing songs in bed I'm told. They come up with the most beautiful lyrics whech themselves are questioning life. What is wrong with that???

I always felt that man should always ask, "What if." Never saw Imagine as a communist manifesto or hypocritical for his wealth. It was a list of What Ifs for me to think about and to, well, Imagine.

I totally agree. It's good to imagine stuff, even if it's virtually beyond possibility. Our politicians should try it :) 10/14/2021 03:45:08 pm
