Behind the song: ''Cryin''' by Aerosmith
''I was in Vancouver in a hotel room by myself, gnawing the furniture, trying to come up with songs for 'Get a Grip'. John Kalodner didn’t like the lyrics to ''Cryin''' and for a month the walls of my room were covered with Scotch tape and scraps of paper—covered. I rewrote the lyrics to that song till I tore a hole in my brain, three, four times, and after the month I went ''Fuck it! I'm singing the original lyrics!''. You can ruin anything by overintellectualizing it. I want my lyrics coming straight at you, I don’t want everything explained, rationalized, sanitized, and homogenized. '' - Steven Tyler
''It's a song that shows the country influence on Aerosmith. Listen to the lyrics: it was country – we just Aerosmith’d it.'' - Steven Tyler
