"I wrote this after being in Washington DC where I was amazed by how many people I saw living in boxes. These people were trying to sleep on the grills where all the hot air was coming up, and you could see that it was in the shadow of Capitol Hill. I thought it was an extraordinary contradiction." - Phil Collins
"It was begun at the piano. I started playing and put it down on a tape so I wouldn't forget it. Then I decided to see what would happen when I started singing. When I began, the words just came out, 'She calls out to the man on the street.' I didn't set out to write a song about the homeless. Those were just the words I happened to sing. It was only then that I decided that was what the song would be about." - Phil Collins
"'Another Day in Paradise' was chosen because it was a bit different from what had gone on before. It would bring people back to the starting line of remembering what I'm about. I write 'In the Air.' I'm quite capable of writing a 'Two Hearts,' but let's not forget I'm also doing this kind of stuff." - Phil Collins

“Another Day In Paradise” was a turning point on people’s perspective of homelessness. The song was especially important to me, as I was among the first Iranian homeless in LA; Another victim of political and religious discrimination and abuse of power. It was 1989 when the song was first released and I used it as part of my presentation for my “speech 101” class, where completely changed my classmates opinions against homelessness. Ever since “Another Day In Paradise” has become my mission in life, to deliver this hidden message in every opportunity comes my way. As I delivered the message during my graduation commencement as well as every single college class that I’m teaching “no matter who you are and where you’ are in life, you are always one step away from the Homelessness”!

First time I went to D.C. and saw this with my own eyes years ago. I was actually in shock and disbelief myself. How could this be happening outside the capitol in the USA. To this day the pictures in my still are as clear as they when I saw them lots of . People standing over barrels just to keep warm. Looking like they hadn't have a meal in weeks or many sleeping in the same street by a opening of steam.

Now with the border crisis just making the situation worse. The current administration is treating illegal immigrants better than they are their own vet's, the people that were promised care after they served for the United States and the freedoms that we all enjoy.
